Building on the incredible success of Season 3, where over 300 young people performed their chosen plays at major theatres across Scotland, the Positive Stories Festivals are back! These transformative events— held at the Traverse Theatre, The Gaiety, Eden Court, and Perth Theatre —helped participants gain confidence, learn new skills, and connect with their communities.
With 98% of young people feeling more confident in drama, and 100% of group leaders reporting skill development in their groups, the impact is undeniable. And with 78% of leaders highlighting increased cultural access, the festivals are truly opening doors.
Season 4 promises even more! We’re thrilled to announce four new hubs for 2025:
Tron Theatre, Glasgow: 7th – 8th June
Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh: 14th – 15th June
Theatre Royal Dumfries, Dumfries & Galloway: 28th – 29th June
An Lanntair, Stornoway: 4th – 5th July
Participation is free, and each two-day festival will feature youth performances, workshops with special guests, and plenty of time to connect with other groups. You’ll also get tech support, rehearsals, and a variety of creative workshops. Plus, dinner is provided for all participants, and bursaries are available for groups who need them.
Ready to showcase your work at one of the Positive Stories Festivals? You can apply via the sign-up page. The deadline for Festival applications is 12 noon on November 14th. You will be notified at the beginning of December if you’ve been selected for the festivals.
We can’t wait to continue empowering young voices and fostering a vibrant, inclusive cultural landscape across Scotland and beyond.
