Yougn Storyhouse – Group 4
Young Storyhouse are based in Chester. They have 6 groups taking part in season 3 of Positive Stories for Negative Times and are excited to be involved because Young Storyhouse run a variety of programmes including schools partnerships, youth theatre and holiday activities. We think these programmes in particular would benefit from Positive Stories for Negative Times.. They will be working towards creating a Full stage production of the scripts. Young Storyhouse is a part of Storyhouse in Chester. Storyhouse is a cultural hub consisting of two theatres, a cinema and library all under the same roof.
Stageability
StageAbility are based in Byways, Sweetzers Piece, Mortimer, Reading. They have 3 groups taking part in season 3 of Positive Stories for Negative Times and are excited to be involved because they took part last year and have signed up for our younger classes.
I think Revolting will be a great discussion point and start for theatre making for our Senior classes. They will be working towards creating a Recorded extracts of Revolting. StageAbility runs Community Drama Classes in the South East (Wokingham/Reading area).
All Saints RC School
All Saints RC School are based in Mill Mount Lane York. They have 1 group taking part in Season 3 of Positive Stories for Negative Times and are excited to be involved because we are wanting to do some work on the topic of revolution with a KS3 group. They will be working towards creating a Full stage production of Revolting.
Falkirk Youth Theatre
Falkirk Youth Theatre are based in Larbert. They have 1 group taking part in Season 3 of Positive Stories for Negative Times and are excited to be involved because this is a time of change for Falkirk Youth Theatre as we have recently lost our main performing venue. We are keen to develop new ways of working with the group to look at modern, creative projects and pieces of writing that challenge us as practitioners and will inspire and engage the young people we work with. This project sounds like something our young people would love to take part in and give them some new experiences. They will be working towards creating a Full stage production of Revolting. More about Falkirk Youth Theatre (FYT) works with young people aged 7 – 18 years developing confidence and creativity through weekly sessions in contemporary and musical theatre.
Theatre Royal Dumfries – Guild of Players Youth Theatre
Theatre Royal Dumfries are based in Shakespeare Street, Dumfries. They have 3 groups taking part in Season 3 of Positive Stories for Negative Times and are excited to be involved because The Guild of Youth Players have been growing in numbers since the pandemic. After the biggest youth cast in the Guilds pantomime, we have proven the young peoples talent in the community. I’m excited for these kids to get a modern script in their hand, and really put their skills to the test. I’m also excited for a potential young person to take the lead on some of the production team roles.
Exposing them to more playwrights will help their understanding of the theatre making and show what is capable in this world. They will be working towards creating a Full stage production of Ms Campbell’s Class Fourth Period. We are the Youth section of the Guild of Player, the amateur theatre that owns and resides in the oldest working theatre in Scotland, Theatre Royal Dumfries. The Guild of Players Youth Theatre meets every Tuesday to explore theatre making, and put on shows for their community. Our age range is 7 – 18, with kids of all skills and abilities. They’ve done devising, improv and script work with workshops in specialised skills as well. They are passionate about challenging themselves and engaging with their wider area to collaborate and create.
Limelight Creative
Limelight creative are based in Oranmore, Co. Galway. They have 1 group taking part in Season 3 of Positive Stories for Negative Times and are excited to be involved because we have participated in Season 2 with Thanks for Nothing. It was such an amazing journey and we are so looking forward to participating again. They will be working towards creating an uutdoor work of Revolting. We are a creative arts centre specialising in arts and disability. We offer a day service to young adults where they can express through the medium of the arts.
