Perth Theatre and Concert Hall are based in Perth Theatre, Mill Street, Perth. They have 1 group taking part in Season 3 of Positive Stories for Negative Times and are excited to be involved because we are always looking for performance opportunities outwith our regular programme at Perth Youth Theatre.
We believe this will be an invaluable chance for our young people to be introduced to new theatrical works, which have been written to allow our participants creative license in the development of the piece. This aligns with our ethos of working with our participants as equal artistic partners and giving them creative ownership over the theatre they create, which naturally leads to devised works. Furthermore, we are also always looking for further professional development opportunities for our participants, especially to support those who want to study acting once they leave school. The chance to work with talented professional playwrights and attending the Wonderfools workshops would open their understanding of various theatre styles, genres and other playwrights.
It is also an opportunity for our participants to connect with other youth theatre groups, both nationally and internationally. Not only would this be a huge benefit for as they can meet other young people with a shared passion for theatre, but also a chance to see other theatre groups perform and aid their understanding of the sector.. They will be working towards creating a Other of Thanks for Nothing. More about Perth Theatre and Concert Hall runs Learning and Engagement workshops for a variety of ages. As part of our Learning and Engagement programme, we run weekly drama sessions for children and young people ages 5 to 18, with previous members including Ewan McGregor, Colin McCredie, and Michael Chakraverty. As well as our regular workshops, our participants have the opportunity to rehearse and perform a scripted play for Perth Theatre’s Mainstage, working with theatre professionals and being directly involved in the creation.
